Ordering questions

All of our items are made to order. Please allow about 1 week for the production of your custom order.

The length of your item will be the circumference of your neck, wrist, ankles, or waist (depending on the type of item you are designing). Please use flexible measuring tape to obtain measurements.  Please watch the helpful video below for a quick tutorial on how to correctly measure your dimensions. All of our items will be made adjustable, but correct size is important to ensure proper fit and look of the item.

Please note that we do not accept returns or offer exchanges for items that are made in incorrect size, so it’s important that you correctly identify your dimensions before placing your order.

All of our products are handmade to order using only the finest materials by our experienced artisans in Portland, Oregon—the leatherworking capital of the United States. All custom items are made using top-quality oil-tanned Leather, a premium leather that has been stained on the surface with natural oils, creating a soft, flexible yet sturdy material that feels wonderfully comfortable against the skin.

Because this is a product of natural cowhide, some minor variation in texture is to be expected. 

When an order is received, all specifications including custom requests and modifications are passed along to our production crew. We communicate with them to ensure that every detail is understood before work begins on your piece. 

First, all leather is cut to size. Next, decorative items including gems, studs, and lettering are carefully placed and attached. The inner lining and strap are then hand-stitched together. Once the item has been stitched, closures and hardware such as buckles and snaps are attached. Once all of this is complete, we carefully trim away any rough or frayed areas to ensure that all edges are smooth and attractive. 

We’ll check your custom item against the original order one last time to ensure that everything has been modified to your exact specifications. 

Finally, your item will be carefully folded, sealed, packaged, and sent to you!

The first thing you should know is that buckle and snap closures offer different adjustability.

 If your neck measures as 15” around, you should order a 15” long collar.

A regular buckle closure will allow for 1.5” of adjustability in each direction, so your 15” collar can be worn from 13.5”-16.5” in length.

A locking buckle closure will allow for ~2” of adjustability in each direction, so your 15” collar can be worn from 13” -17″ in length.

A snaps closure will allow for 0.75-1” of adjustability in either direction.

The first thing you should know is that buckle and snap closures offer different adjustability. You should order the cuffs of the same size that your wrists /ankles are. For example: if your wrists are 6” around, you should order 6″ cuffs. 

A regular buckle closure will allow for total of 0.75” of adjustability in each direction.

A locking buckle closure will allow for ~1” of adjustability in each direction.

A snaps closure will allow for ~0.75″ of adjustability in either direction.

A regular buckle closure will allow for total of 1.5” of adjustability in each direction, so your 15” collar can be worn from 13.5”-16.5” in length.

A snaps closure will allow for 0.75-1” of adjustability in either direction.

All of our items are made using top-quality oil tanned Leather, a premium leather that has been stained on the surface with natural oils, creating a soft, flexible yet sturdy material that feels wonderfully comfortable against the skin. Because this is a product of natural cowhide, some minor variation in texture is to be expected. This adds to the uniqueness of each item that we create!

Unfortunately, we specialize in real leather and only carry black rubber as an alternative.

Yes! We carry black, brass, and rose gold-plated hardware (which includes rivets, buckles, snaps and some attachments). All of our coated hardware has a brass/zinc alloy base material and should be safe for those who have nickel sensitivities. Look for those options during the customization process

Availability of these options may depend on the item style. If you would like to explore nickel-free hardware and attachments, please email us with the specifications of your custom item. We’ll be happy to discuss your nickel-free possibilities!

Our inner lining selections include lambskin, suede, faux fur, faux rabbit fur, cuddle fleece, and velvet.

Lambskin:

A common misconception about the lambskin is that it has a fuzzy, suede-like texture. In fact, the lambskin feels like a very soft, almost silken leather. It is made from a lamb hide, and most customers report that it is very comfortable. This is also the easiest of the inner lining options to care for.


Suede:

Our suede is amazing to the touch and comes in some beautiful colors. It does take more care than the other inner lining options, as it does not hold up to the natural skin oils and/or cleaning quite as well.


Faux Fur:

The faux fur is a synthetic fabric blend that is generally very soft and fluffy and has a pile that ranges from 1/8″ inch to a little over 1/4″.

Our standard production turnaround is approximately 1 week (from the date the order was processed to the date the order is shipped), but this can be longer during busier periods, such as the holiday.

Typically, our collars made for aesthetics—sexy accessories for lighter play.
However, we do offer reinforcement options during the customization process that will enable your item to stand up to heavier play.

We’d recommend a leather or lambskin lining. These will be easier to clean and care for than suede, and they won’t get matted like faux fur.

We only carry uppercase lettering in silver color and in Roman alphabet as well as Roman numerals. Each letter is ½” tall. We do not offer lettering in other colors. We do not offer special characters or numbers.

Sorry, we are not able to offer those options at this time.

Locking buckle refers to buckle hardware that allows for the attachment of a small lock. The buckle itself does not lock or include a locking mechanism.

We offer compatible locks that you may add to your order via the “Accessories” page or when finalizing your customization. 

Please note that including a lock with your order does not automatically change your buckle to a locking buckle. These options are selected independently.

Shipping questions (domestic)

For purposes of discretion and privacy, all packages will ship from “AGB Inc.” and all payments will also be processed as “AGB Inc.”.

Our first step is to check and verify the shipping address to make sure we didn’t make a mistake on our end. Next, we will contact the customer and let them know that the package has been returned. Once everything is verified and we have the correct address we will reship it. If it comes back again, we’ll contact you again, but you will need to pay for shipping.

at this point we are not able to offer express orders, sorry.

Our production turnaround time is about 3-4 weeks a this time. Most orders are shipped the same day they are completed.

Due to large amount of orders we have, we are not able to offer express production at this time.

Yes, once your order ships you will be emailed the tracking information for your package.

Shipping questions (international)

We ship our orders Worldwide.  Prices are given in US dollars and will be converted to your currency by your local bank or credit card company. Any customs charges that may occur are the responsibility of the customer.

Yes, the recipient of the international package is responsible for paying customs feex/taxes before before the package will be released by the carrier.

Please keep in mind that we are not responsible for reseeding for packages that are returned to us as unclaimed or with customs fees being unpaid. We also do not issue refunds for these orders.

Sorry, we are not able to ship international orders with much discretion.

Firstly, we are obligated to disclose the value of the package as well as the contents of the package on all international packages. This is required for the purpose of customs fees/taxes and is the part of Global eCommerce.

Second, we will need to have recipient’s phone number and email address. This information will be passed on to the carrier of the package. If carrier needs to collect customs fees in order to release the package, they will contact the recipient using that contact info. if the carrier is not able to reach the recipient, the package will be returned back to sender or, in some cases, abandoned.

Thirdly, please make sure to provide the recipient’s full first and last name (please no nicknames or made up names, which will cause issues with the delivery).

And lastly, please make sure the recipient of the package is aware of the fact that they will be receiving the package from USA. So if they are contacted by the carrier, they will need to provide a response to the them. If the carrier is not able to reach the recipient, the package will be returned to sender/abandoned.

Shipping gift orders internationally requires lots of diligence. Please take this seriously.

Discretion are great thing in our business, but unfortunately it does not work well on international orders.

You will have to wait until the returned package is delivered back to us. After that we will have to find out the carrier’s charge for the package return (yes, this service is not free). Once we know that information, we will reach out back to you with the price quote of how much it will cost to resend the package (which will include the re-shipment fee as well as the cost of the package return from the carrier).

We do not provide refunds for orders that were returned to us are too expensive for the customer to resend.

that will depend on the value of your order as well as the regulations of your country (with respect to import of leather goods). we do not have an exact number. We recommend that you research customs fees/taxes on leather goods in your country.

Returns and Exchanges

Since each order is made especially for you, a Collar Factory product cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a manufacturer error. No refunds are provided unless an item is deemed defective. No refunds or returns will be accepted for ordering the incorrect size. Please see the FAQ for information on measuring your neck, wrist, and ankles.

Since our items are hand crafted just for you, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges on these items unless they are defective or made with incorrect specifications. Items ordered with incorrect spelling or incorrect sizing cannot be refunded or exchanged.

Once your order is made there is no way for us to go back and resize it smaller or larger. Each piece is cut and made specifically for the size that you order. All the holes and placement of the rivets are designed to work with that measurement. So, we cannot alter it once its finished.

Sometimes we make mistakes, it happens when creating custom items. If we do make a mistake here is what we typically do to make things right:

  1. Send the item back and we’ll redo it for you and ship it back to you
  2. Keep the item and we’ll give you a partial refund for the mistake
  3. Keep the item and we will redo it for 50% of the cost and free shipping within the USA.

Leather Care

General Care

  • Don’t clean your leather products with anything that contains alcohol or ammonia
  • If your collar or cuffs get dirty, wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid excessive rubbing or saturation with water. To ensure the longest life possible, store your collar and cuffs out of direct sunlight and away from humidity or excessive heat. Avoid folding.

To keep rubber collars and cuffs shiny, we use Turtle Wax.

Caring for Leather or Lambskin items:

Avoid storing your wet collar and cuffs in a plastic container or anywhere that will keep them from “breathing.” Try to always store your leather in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. If your collar or cuffs have faux-fur lining and the fur gets wet, blot the fur and then dry with a hair dryer set to the lowest temperature.

We recommend using Spartacus Leather cleaner and conditioner. By using these products, it will help keep your leather product clean and soft as well as extending the life of the product.
